October News

October 2, 2009

  1. House Fire Update – Neighbors are emailing to see if there is anything they can do for Ron. There are no plans yet as we are waiting for more news on his recovery.  There is an idea though to hold a potluck when Ron is better so we can wish him well and thank his rescuers.  Please contact our Lake Desire Greeter, Susan Hill with any well wishes or ideas, bellafloragirl@yahoo.com.
  2. Lake Desire Emergency Preparedness Meeting – 10/6/09, 7pm - Our next meeting is coming up at Kathy Shertz’s house, 18533 W Lk Desire Dr SE, 425-228-8666. Contact katshertz@q.com if you would like to help out in any way.  We are currently looking for area coordinators to contact/check on 5-10 of their close neighbors if ever needed for emergency purposes.
  3. Roadside Clean Up – 10/8/09, 4pm - Come join us Thursday, October 8th from 4:00pm on for a roadside cleanup.  We’ll fan out around the lake to pick up trash from the roads.  If you can’t make it to help on that day, feel free to pick up a bag from the Stafford’s house (17736 E Lake Desire) and leave full bags just off the road.  Neighbors will have all weekend, Oct 10th or 11th to pick up along the roads.  The bags will be picked up by King County along the side of the roads on Monday or Tuesday, October 12th or 13th.  Thanks for participating in beautifying our roads!  Questions email Heather Stafford, heather.stafford@comcast.net or call 206-498-1308.
  4. Wednesday Night Walks – Dorothy Paun is still leading walks on Wednesday evenings for women.  Walks will start at 6 pm now.  Contact Dorothy if interested, to.e@comcast.net.
  5. City of Fairwood Vote – The vote to determine whether or not the Fairwood neighborhood will incorporate as the City of Fairwood will take place on November 3, 2009. If the vote passes, then the city incorporation becomes effective within six months to one year of the election (in 2010).
